Energy-based response prediction of reinforced concrete buildings with steel damper columns under pulse-like ground motions

The response of structures under pulse-like ground motions is characterized by the large amount energy input in a few cycles. Consequently, with insufficient strength may suffer severe damage owing to excessive deformation. In previous paper, energy-based prediction procedure for peak and cumulative reinforced concrete (RC) frame building steel damper columns was proposed (Fujii Shioda, Buildings, 2023, 13, 401). Although this verified comparison nonlinear time-history analysis (NTHA) results, performance motion records has not been yet. study, accuracy an RC investigated considering motions. numerical results reveal that predicted satisfactory, which agrees author’s study. However, total model depends on ratio pulse period effective fundamental model. reasons underestimation are discussed paper.
